On one of their last travels, Steffi and Norbert met Atta. Back then she was four years old, couldn’t speak and was only able to crawl on the ground. The cause for Attas underdevelopment was an Asphyxia (lack of oxygen) at birth. Her medical diagnose was devastating. She probably has to deal with physical and psychological disorders for the rest of her life.
We arranged a wheelchair for Atta that should give her, with help of a caretaker, some freedom of movement. But Atta had different plans. Despite all the difficulties, she began to stand, make her first steps and even talk. Instead of a wheelchair, she now get’s our support. Her parents receive money for fruits and vegetables every month. Attas uncle helps her with gymnastic exercises.
